About the Role


We are seeking a passionate, organised and inspiring individual to join our team as a Librarian with responsibility for Enrichment Coordination.


This is a unique and rewarding role combining the management of a vibrant school library with the coordination and administration of a well-established and highly valued enrichment programme. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting our school values including that “we work towards independence every day”, helping students to develop the skills, confidence and curiosity needed for lifelong learning.


The library is central to this mission and plays a vital role in our delivery of the Trust Reading Strategy, promoting reading for pleasure, supporting curriculum literacy, and enabling all students to become independent learners.


Key Responsibilities


Library Management

  • To undertake to develop a dynamic and interesting school library that inspires young people to read.
  • To help monitor, evaluate and support pupils' progress in reading and literacy.
  • To deliver and support reading interventions.
  • To lead extra-curricular activities and parental engagement/community activities with the library at the centre.
  • The management, development, promotion and evaluation of an effective learning resource and information service which supports teaching and learning across the school.


Enrichment Coordination

  • Support the administration and organisation of a comprehensive and thriving enrichment offer
  • Act as the school’s Educational Visits Coordinator (EVC), ensuring all visits comply with relevant guidance and procedures
  • Coordinate clubs, trips and activities, working with staff and external providers
  • Track participation and support equitable access for all students
  • Support the planning and delivery of trips and experiences, including accompanying or leading visits throughout the year
  • Participate in some trips during school holiday periods (with negotiation)
  • Contribute to the continued growth and success of our enrichment programme
  • Communicate our enrichment programme with internal and external audiences


About You:

You will be someone with strong communication and organisational skills, and a passion for learning, combined with specific traits like being social, cautious, flexible, and detail-oriented.


Essential:

  • Have experience working in a school, library or educational setting
  • Have a passion for reading, literacy and student development
  • Be highly organised, with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively
  • Understand the importance of fostering independence in young people
  • Be confident coordinating events, visits and activities
  • Demonstrate strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Be proactive, adaptable and committed to providing inclusive opportunities for all students
  • Have strong ICT skills and confidence using digital and administrative systems
  • Good numeracy and literacy skills/GCSE (or equivalent) Maths and English
  • Experience of working with or caring for children of relevant age
  • Knowledge of contemporary children’s literature
  • Knowledge of the school curriculum as it affects the service the library provides
  • Ability to work on own initiative


Desirable:

  • Ideally a fully qualified Chartered Librarian or equivalent experience
