What skills and experience we're looking for

The Opportunity

We are looking for a skilled and motivated Reading Leader to join our dedicated team. Thisexciting newrole at King’s Lynn Academyhastwo main responsibilities.

Firstly, toestablisha strong culture of reading across the academy, which encourages all pupils to recognise the value and joys of reading. This will include overseeing a welcoming and well-resourced library at the heart of the school, whilst leading a range of other opportunities for pupils to positively engage with reading. This will be achieved by promoting competitions to incentivise and reward reading, organising eventsto celebratea diverse range of interesting stories, and fostering partnerships with relevant organisations in the wider communityto further pupils’ experience of reading.

Secondly, to coordinate programmes to improvepupils’readingproficiency. This will involve the administration of testing, analysis of results, and the planning of tailored interventions to effectively target pupils’ needs and develop their reading skills. This work will contribute to theacademy’sbroader ambition of ensuring all pupils are able to read to theexpectedstandard of their age andfully access the world around them.

The Reading Leader will work in collaboration with colleagues across the school, such as the Head of English, to meet these responsibilities

About You

  • Qualified to Level 2 English and Maths (GCSE A-C or equivalent)
  • Relevant course to support learninge.gNVQ3 relevant library and information qualifications or equivalent experience
  • Previousexperience in the operation of organisational and administrative procedures including excellent ICT skills
  • Proven experience working in an educational environment
  • Previousexperience working with students and meeting theirparticular needsand requirements
  • Flexible and adaptable to undertake varied duties
  • Ability to work calmly under pressure
  • Ability to relate to different ages and abilities
