Librarian job summary

We are seeking an enthusiastic and organised Librarian to ensure that our modern library remains a welcoming, purposeful and inspiring space at the heart of school life. This permanent, term-time role would suit someone who genuinely loves reading and can share that enthusiasm with young people, encouraging students to read widely, confidently and for pleasure. The post is 37.5 hours per week, from 8:30am to 4:30pm, with a part-time job share considered.

Working as part of the wider school team, you will take responsibility for the day-to-day running and organisation of the library, promote reading across the school and help develop a vibrant reading culture. From student book clubs, events, displays and promotions to reading fluency screening and monitoring, this is a varied role with real scope to make reading visible, enjoyable and valued. We are looking for someone creative, practical and student-focused, with strong administrative skills, good attention to detail and the ability to build positive relationships with students and colleagues.
