Library & Resource Centre Manager job summary
We are seeking to recruit a Library and Learning Resource Centre Manager to oversee our open-plan library, which is utilised by staff and students for independent work and reading for pleasure. Our library is well resourced with a wide range of materials to meet the curriculum needs and leisure interests of the whole school community. The library is open throughout the school day, and for a period at the end of each school day, as a quiet place for students to complete homework.
As our Library Manager & Resource Centre Manager, the post holder will be responsible for the leadership and management of the library provision, working with curriculum areas to develop and promote the role of the library and support our aim to nurture a passion for wider reading and enquiry, which in turn will broaden our young people’s knowledge and develop a love of reading.
The successful candidate will be a dynamic and forward-thinking individual who enjoys working with young people and who is committed to creating and developing an environment conducive to active and participatory learning and resource-based research. You must have the ability to work under your own initiative and also to work collaboratively with the teaching staff to support our students in becoming confident, enthusiastic and independent learners and readers.
Staff who opt into the Local Government Pension Scheme will receive a generous employer contribution equivalent to 22.6% of salary. In addition, we offer free on-site parking, a bike-to-work scheme, a subsidised canteen, free eye tests, an employee assistance scheme and annual flu vaccinations.
Denefield is committed to safeguarding, safer recruitment and promoting the welfare of students and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. Our comprehensive recruitment and selection processes aims to discourage and screen out unsuitable applicants. Successful candidates are subject to rigorous pre-employment checks. All short-listed candidates will be subject to online searches and any successful candidates will be required to complete a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check. All candidates will be required to submit the names of two referees, one of which must be your most recent employer. CVs will not be accepted.
We are equally committed to eliminating discrimination and encouraging diversity. We aim for our workforce to be representative of society and that each employee feels respected and able to give their best. We are committed to providing equality and fairness in our recruitment and employment practices and not to discriminate on any grounds. We oppose all forms of unlawful and unfair discrimination.
Completed applications, submitted via My New Term, should reach us by 9.00am on Tuesday 11 November 2025.
Please note that we reserve the right to call candidates to interview before the closing date. As such, early applications are encouraged.
