The Clare School is looking to appoint a part-time teacher or instructor to enable us to deliver our exciting ‘Life Skills’ curriculum to some of the most interesting and engaging pupils with complex needs.  You do not need to have any complex needs teaching experience – we are looking for a person who is enthusiastic, kind and is passionate about helping our pupils to succeed.

This post will require someone who aspires for every pupil they teach to reach their full potential and to support every individual to become as independent as possible.  This is more than just teaching our pupils to cook or delivering food technology lessons – we want our pupils to learn proper ‘life’ skills that will support them into adulthood, such as how to keep themselves healthy, basic home management, financial literacy and shopping skills.  You will need to be willing to embrace and research the technology that is currently available to support and enable independence.

This post will also need someone who will assess, plan and respond to each child’s individual learning needs and interests. We are passionate about recording the progress our pupils make, and it is vital that you can work in a large teaching team, maintaining up-to-date records that are meaningful for individual pupils and their families. There is a requirement to teach ASDAN, OCR and WJEC accredited courses to our most able pupils, full training to support this will be offered.

It is essential that you can facilitate and encourage a learning experience which provides pupils with a highly stimulating environment, that motivates engagement and challenges understanding. We must ensure that every pupil has the chance to use their individual strengths to make the most of every learning opportunity.

The Clare School is a an ‘outstanding’ school and this is a fantastic opportunity to work within this exciting and vibrant community.

For an informal discussion about the role, please contact Matthew Clackett.
