Lifeguard job summary
The main purpose of this role is to support the Swim Instructor and School Staff during swimming lessons, ensuring that all pupils and pool users are fully supervised in the pool area.
You will always act safely whilst holding responsibility for the Health and Safety of all pool users.
Chiltern Wood School is an expanding Special School currently supporting over 200 students ranging from ages 3 to 19 years. The school is currently located over two sites in Cressex and Downley with a third opening in September, and Teaching Assistants may be asked to work within any of our departments for children with severe or profound and multiple learning difficulties across either site.
You will have excellent attention to detail, ensuring the safety of our pupils whilst they are enjoying the use of our facilities.
You will support with the maintenance and cleanliness of the pool area and equipment to ensure that this is to the required standards and is safe for pupils to use.
As lifeguard, you may be required, from time to time to support the swim instructor and maintenance team with relevant pool checks.
A National Lifeguard Qualification (NPLQ) or similar would be beneficial and candidates shortlisted for interview will need to evidence that they have completed relevant training.
The successful candidate may be required to undertake such other tasks appropriate to the level of appointment as the Headteacher may require. It may be reviewed annually or earlier if necessary, and it may be subject to modification or amendment after consultation with the post holder.
We are looking for someone that is patient and understanding with a passion to teach and instill water confidence with a range of students. We are a strong team and work closely together to give our students the best possible education.
