Literacy Champion & Library Leader
The Stockwood Park Academy are looking for a hands-on, proactive and inspirational individual to join us a Literacy Champion and Library Leader. Our Learning Resources Centre (Library) is home to all our information sources which we encourage students to access via both traditional and modern methods. We are looking for someone committed to promoting the active use of the Learning Resource Centre for all groups of students as a key curriculum resource and someone who will develop and teach library skills to our youngest members of the student body. In addition, you will lead as a Key Stage 3 Literacy Champion, planning and delivering reading programmes and supporting the English Faculty in delivering Sparx Reader, which will advance our learners’ skills and increase their appetite and pleasure for literature.

Key Duties:
Operational lead and involvement in the production of the Learning Resource Centre Development Plan (annual)
Plan and implement regular and relevant reading interventions
Monitor and evaluate the impact of reading interventions
Delivery of the new Year 7 induction programme including elements of library skills and library software usage
Undertake sessions for students and staff on information retrieval skills and agreed literacy programmes
Assistance and guidance to students engaged in research
The Successful Candidate will:
Be highly organised
Work well under pressure
Understand the importance of literacy in breaking the cycle of underachievement
Possess a degree in librarianship or information management that is recognised by the Chartered Institute of Library and Information Professionals (CILIP) - Desirable
Job Specifics:
Start Date: November 2025
Salary: AS 21-25 FTE £33,452-£36,672 pro rata £30,518-£33,456
Job Role: Permanent, Term-time + 2 weeks (41 weeks) Mon-Thu 8am-4pm Fri 3:30pm
