What skills and experience we're looking for

We are seeking to appoint confident and self-motivated individuals to provide specialist skills and knowledge to ensure that pupils and students who have literacy-related special educational needs or other needs affecting literacy make progress.

You will conduct ongoing literacy assessments of pupils and students to ensure that interventions are matched effectively. This will involve planning, preparing and delivering literacy learning programmes and monitoring the pupils/students by assessing, recording and reporting on their achievements, progress and development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • To ensure that interventions are matched by practice in the classroom.
  • To ensure that pupils/students who have literacy-related special educational needs or other needs affecting literacy make progress.
  • To deliver literacy interventions in small groups around phonics and guided reading across the school.
  • To work collaboratively with the Head of English to plan and oversee provision and tracking of Wave 2 and Wave 3 interventions in literacy

Key Requirements:

  • GCSE or equivalent in English
  • Experience working in an educational setting
  • Ability to think, write and speak clearly and concisely
  • Confidence and self-motivation in exercising appropriate initiative
