Local Governance Committee Clerks job summary

The vacancy
Contract: Permanent
Hours: Approximately 82 annualised hours per school per year (equivalent to 1.89 hours per week), paid in equal monthly instalments throughout the year.
The White Horse Federation is a Multi-Academy Trust comprising 30 schools.
We currently have vacancies supporting Local Governing Committees across the Swindon, Devizes, Melksham and Salisbury Plain areas of Wiltshire.
Each vacancy relates to a single school. Candidates may apply for one school or multiple schools, enabling them to build a larger role. Additional schools may also be added to contracts over time, subject to availability and mutual agreement.
Local Governance Committee meetings take place during school term time, usually in the evening, although there are some daytime and late afternoon options. While the role is paid throughout the year, the majority of work is undertaken during term time.
We couldn’t do what we do without our fantastic clerking team, and you would play a key role in supporting our schools and Local Governance Committees, providing guidance and advice on governance. This is fantastic opportunity to join us on our journey, working in a key role to ensure our local governors are fully supported, and a record is made of meetings, decisions and action points.
All About You
Do you have what it takes to join us? The Clerk to Governors we would like to join us will be:
Highly organised and able to plan and prioritise their work effectively.
Have excellent written communication skills and the ability to produce accurate, concise minutes.
Able to complete all required work with limited supervision, although full support will be provided, as needed
Confident using Microsoft Office, Microsoft Teams and online systems.
Have strong administrative skills and a keen eye for detail.
Able to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
A proactive problem-solver with a professional and positive approach.
Able to work flexibly, including attending evening meetings during term time.
Demonstrate a commitment to supporting effective school governance and improving outcomes for children and young people.
Previous experience of clerking, governance or working within education would be advantageous, but it is not essential. We welcome applications from candidates with transferable administrative, organisational and communication skills, and full training and ongoing support will be provided.
