Are you passionate about creating a safe, positive, and enjoyable environment for children?
This is a unique and rewarding opportunity to join our primary school community as a Lunchtime Supervisor with a strong emphasis on outdoor play and positive social interaction.
Unlike traditional lunchtime roles that primarily focus on the dining hall, this position is dedicated almost entirely to supporting children out on the playground, helping to create a safe, enjoyable and purposeful play environment. You will still be part of a friendly and supportive lunchtime team, but your role will have a distinct focus on leading play, encouraging cooperation, and nurturing children’s wellbeing through active, engaging experiences.
As a key adult on the playground, you will help children build confidence, develop teamwork and communication skills, and enjoy a structured but fun break in their day. You’ll introduce simple games and activities, help children navigate friendships, and model positive behaviour—ensuring that lunchtimes remain a happy, inclusive and secure part of school life.
To help us see your approach in action, shortlisted candidates will be asked at interview to share a simple playground game suitable for a small group of primary-aged children—something active, inclusive, and easy for all children to join in with. This is a wonderful chance to showcase your creativity, energy and understanding of purposeful play.
We are looking for someone who is friendly, reliable, proactive and enjoys being outdoors, whatever the weather. If you have a natural rapport with children and want to make a meaningful difference in just one hour a day, this role could be perfect for you. You will play an important part in shaping a positive school culture and contributing to children’s wellbeing, confidence and enjoyment of school life.
Whether you’re looking to support your local community, return to work, or gain valuable experience in a school setting, we’d love to hear from you!
About you:
You will have:
- good relationship-building skills and able to proactively engage with students and other staff members.
- strong interpersonal skills, in particular demonstrates empathy and active listening.
- the ability to deal with inappropriate behaviour in a calm and non-judgemental way, following academy guidance.
- patience, be calm and be able to work under pressure
- positive values and attitudes in order to be a role model to our students.
Applicants are advised to refer to the full requirements of the role in the attached job description and person specification, prior to submitting an application.
