What skills and experience we're looking for
Knowledge
The role requires proficiency with a variety of hardware and operating systems. The post-holder should have substantial knowledge or experience in the following areas:
- Windows 10/11
- Mac OS X
- Apple iOS and Android OS
- Cloud based resources
- Windows Server
Skills
- Effectively liaise and communicate by addressing requests via the online helpdesk and through verbal communication with staff, pupils, and adult education students with varying IT expertise.
- Maintain appropriate professional relationships with staff and pupils, ensuring confidentiality and flexibility.
- Instruct, receive and disseminate information both formally and informally.
- Utilise various software and hardware to their fullest potential in performing tasks.
- Maintain accurate, up-to-date recording systems for audit purposes.
- Proactively identify problems and requirements.
Abilities
- Share knowledge and skills to help others gain independence and confidence in using IT.
- Stay updated on new developments in IT applications and identify opportunities beneficial to the schools.
- Participate in the annual professional development and review process, attending training courses as needed.
- Adhere to procedures and guidelines as appropriate.
- Engage in problem-solving and rectification of hardware and software faults.
- Maintain a flexible and calm demeanour in a demanding environment.
- Perform tasks efficiently and effectively.
- Lift and carry equipment following correct safe lifting practices.
- Work unsupervised and take initiative.
- Demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Qualifications
- Educated to GCSE standard with satisfactory grades in English, Maths, and Science.
- IT-related qualifications, or significant experience in an IT support environment involving close customer contact.
Desirable
- Driving license and own vehicle (mileage claims will be reimbursed).
- Previous experience in an IT-related role.
- Experience working within the education sector.
Special Requirements
- Support school events that take place after school hours.
