Maternity Cover - Governance Support Officer job summary

Grade CD - point 3-6

Term Time only plus training days.

This is a maternity contract to July 2026. The role could be split between 2 people for the right candidates.


The STAR Multi Academy Trust are seeking to appoint a Governance Support Officers for our Local Governing Bodies (LGBs). We expect you will have responsibility for two to four schools / LGBs across our Trust; however, this is open to discussion.

You will need to be flexible and well organised as you will be attending meetings on different days and times each half term. The meetings dates are set well in advance and are normally held early evening.

Hours worked will be variable across term time only. For each Local Governing Board supported, there are 6 meetings per year and this equates to 10.5 hours of direct work per meeting, with approximately 25 additional training hours across the academic year. There would also be an opportunity for additional hours to support with administration tasks.

You will need to attend meetings in person at the individual school, with some training at the STAR MAT Head Office. Outside of these fixed working hours, the post is based from home, and you will be responsible for managing your own workload within a framework.
