Maternity Cover Head of PE (Female) job summary
Havelock Academy is now recruiting for a female Head of PE (Maternity Cover). This role could be your next career opportunity - providing the successful candidate with the chance to step into the Head of Department role for a period of maternity leave.

About the role
We are looking for a female to oversee curricular and extra-curricular PE for a fixed term period (length to be confirmed).
The responsibilities will include:
- To oversee the PE teaching team, including any ECTs, trainees, coaches and any cover staff
- To inspire and motivate students from across the academy to engage fully with sport in and out of lessons
- To inspire and motivate staff from across the academy to support the wider sport offer
- To ensure the curriculum is planned across key stages, with appropriate resourcing
- To oversee PE enrichment, including supporting DRET Sport enrichment staff
- To liaise with middle/senior leaders accordingly to ensure the qualification subjects are compliant and all deadlines are met
- To maintain a thorough and up to date knowledge of the teaching of your subject(s) and take account of wider curriculum developments which are relevant to your work.
- To contribute to the academy and trust enrichment programmes.
This is a temporary position to cover the duration of a maternity leave.

Havelock has 8 houses which compete in house sport competitions throughout the year, as well as providing a cultural backdrop for the academy.

Who we are looking for
Relevant Subject Degree at BA or above
Qualified Teacher Status
Evidence of applying continued professional development
Understanding of the current curriculum discussions within your subject
Have taught across the key stages
A thorough up to date knowledge of the range of teaching, learning and behaviour management strategies and how to implement them effectively
