What skills and experience we're looking for

We are seeking a talented individual who can deliver high quality maths lessons to young people who have complex mental health difficulties and other medical needs. Whilst previous experience of working in a specialist setting may be beneficial, many of our staff come from a mainstream background. Full and comprehensive training will be given to support the transition.

As a creative person, with a passion for mathematics, you will have excellent subject and pedagogical knowledge. You will work closely with the colleagues and wider team to ensure young people still have access to learning and gain practical experiences. Many of our young people have gaps in their education, you will need to have a creative approach to teaching to reduce the impact of educational disadvantage, enabling all our young people to access learning and make expected progress.

We are looking for a resilient and dynamic teacher who can inspire young people. You should have a track record as a consistently good/outstanding practitioner as well as to be able to develop and support the needs of the whole young person and be committed to enabling all young people to thrive. You must demonstrate tenacity coupled with experience of working KS3 and KS4 pupils, experience of teaching post-16 mathematics would be advantageous, but not essential.

We are also recruiting for a Second in Maths (Assistant Head of Curriculum) position, which carries a TLR2a for the suitable candidate. Applicants wishing to be considered for this role should indicate this in their application, and it will be discussed at interview stage.

Closing date: Wednesday 3rd December 2025 at 9am

Interviews will be held: 11th December 2025

Start date: 5th January 2026 or earlier if possible
