What skills and experience we're looking for

The Mathematics Department is an established scholarly community, where teachers develop students’ talent in a calm learning environment. We have a detailed curriculum plan and students work at a pace to complete a high-volume of work.

For the successful candidate this is a unique opportunity to join a superb team and shape the department's future success.

The successful candidate will have a strong and secure knowledge of the GCSE curriculum, in addition they will have a strong understanding of the KS5 curriculum content. They will be able to maintain and build on a culture of success where all feel valued and proud of their achievements. They will be ably supported by motivated members of the Maths Team so that we can deliver excellent outcomes for all of our students whatever their starting point.

We are dedicated in ensuring all lessons are engaging so that our students are able to thrive. We are committed to all students developing a love of mathematics and a desire to achieve the very best they can.

Mathematics is the most popular option subject in our sixth form. We offer Mathematics and Further Mathematics at A Level.

The successful candidate will demonstrate: -

  • a passion for mathematics and teaching and have excellent subject knowledge and pedagogical understanding
  • they are an excellent classroom practitioner, experienced in teaching maths at key Stages 3, 4 and 5
  • the ability to motivate, challenge, support and inspire students to achieve the best possible outcomes
  • outstanding success at achieving consistently good results in mathematics, at least, at key stage 3 and key stage 4
  • the ability to create and facilitate highly challenging and engaging lessons
  • aspiration to progress their career in the future at the time which is right for them
  • they are optimistic, positive, cheerful and develop others to flourish.
