About the role

We are looking for a passionate and committed Teacher of Maths to join our established department.

The Maths team delivers a broad and challenging curriculum that develops deep understanding and equips students with the skills needed for higher education and beyond. Our experienced teachers are enthusiastic about their subject and dedicated to helping every learner succeed.

Through engaging lessons and effective teaching strategies, you will make mathematics accessible, challenging and enjoyable, using assessment and feedback to address misconceptions, close gaps and support strong progress for all students.

Key responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver engaging Maths lessons with clear learning objectives and appropriate challenge.
  • Adapt teaching to meet the needs of all students, including those with SEND, high prior attainment and EAL.
  • Use formative and summative assessment and effective feedback to identify strengths, address misconceptions and support progress.
  • Contribute to curriculum planning, schemes of work and suitable assessments across the Maths curriculum.
  • Set high expectations for learning and behaviour, creating a positive and inclusive classroom environment.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues, support staff and families to secure positive outcomes for students.

What we're looking for

  • A degree in a relevant discipline and Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
  • Secure knowledge of Maths and the relevant curriculum areas.
  • A strong understanding of effective teaching, learning and assessment.
  • The ability to set consistently high expectations and adapt teaching to meet individual needs.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • A commitment to professional development, safeguarding, equality and inclusion.

Lift New Rickstones is graded 'Good' (November 2023) and has a state of the art building offering fantastic facilities for both students and staff. Over the last 8 years the school has seen a huge increase in student numbers, with the number of students on roll more than doubling. The school is a popular choice in the local area, is oversubscribed, and has added another new building to meet this demand.
