MFL Teacher of Spanish (with Home Language Responsibility) job summary
This will be an exciting opportunity to join a strong, stable and inspirational MFL team with passionate leadership. Whatever your career stage you will be supported to develop further language knowledge and to enhance your teaching tool kit so that our students are able to confidently read, write and communicate in the Spanish language. As Teacher of Spanish, with a responsibility to co-ordinate Home Languages, your key duties will include:
- Early identification of eligible students for the range of Home Language GCSEs offered by AQA and Edexcel
- Liaison with parents about the Home Language additional GCSE process
- Support and guidance to students with their journey to success in their Home Language GCSE
- Organisation of Home Language mock examinations and entries for candidates
- Arrangement and training of Teacher-Examiners for each Home Language for external mock marking and conducting the Speaking exams
- Promotion of Home Languages through initiatives as part of the Academy's ethos
In addition, core Spanish Teaching responsibilities will include:
- Playing a fundamental role in helping to move the MFL department to the next stage in its development
- Planning and deliver high quality and engaging lessons that will challenge students and inspire progression
- Encouraging students to have high expectations of themselves and their behaviour
- Be able to teach GCSE
- Be a positive role model and supportive mentor to students
