What skills and experience we're looking for
About us and the role
Join our team and help create safe, happy and active lunchtimes for our pupils.
We are looking for two Midday Supervisors to support our children during the busy lunchtime period. In this role, you’ll help create a safe, positive and enjoyable environment. You’ll be a visible, supportive presence, engaging with pupils, encouraging cooperative play, and ensuring behaviour aligns with our values.
Your responsibilities will include supervising children at all times, promoting purposeful and friendly interactions, and taking prompt action when spills, accidents or concerns arise, report behaviour (both positive and negative), and ensure any injuries or illness are dealt with according to school policy. As a strong role model, you’ll contribute to the wellbeing, safety and happiness of every child in your care.
If you are enthusiastic, reliable and passionate about supporting children’s school experience, we would love to hear from you. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a real difference each day and be part of a warm, supportive school community.
School visits are welcomed and encouraged. Please contact the school to arrange a suitable time.
Avanti Park School is a beautiful primary and middle school (Reception – Year 8) in the heart of Frome, neighbouring Victoria Park. Our school is graded as good with outstanding in behaviour and attitudes, leadership and management, and personal development.
Avanti Park is a non-faith, community school that embraces inclusion and diversity. Staff find Avanti Park to be a wonderful place to work, with warm, friendly relationships underpinning a calm and joyful atmosphere, (OFSTED).
Our staff are inspired and passionate about their roles, the vision of the school, and providing the most fulfilling learning experience for pupils. Learning is a quest to discover each student’s unique gifts and potential, and to lay the foundation for their lifelong journey of learning
“When I stepped into Avanti Park, the first thing I noticed was that they don’t just talk about valuing the whole child. It’s evidenced by discussions around spirituality within lessons and PSHE, its lived through assemblies, conversations with children and yoga lessons that help children focus on what’s important to them. All of this tied together showed me it’s not just a sound bite that we care about the whole child; it’s about giving them the tools to embody that daily,” - Simon Goldsworthy, Key Stage 2 Lead.
What will you do?
- Supervise the children at all times during lunchtime on the school premises.
- Engage with the children and ensure that they are active in purposeful and co-operative behaviour throughout the lunchtime period.
- Ensure that the children are behaving appropriately in line with the schools’ behaviour policy at all times including the dining room, playground and during wet lunch times.
- Take reasonable precautions whilst in charge of the children to see that they do nothing that is likely to injure themselves or others.
What are we looking for?
- Ability to work as part of a team, form good relationships with other colleagues to ensure effective lunchtime supervision
- To be able to take charge of groups of children setting and maintaining acceptable behavioural standards
- Appropriate knowledge of first aid
- Commitment to professional development, learning and development
