Behind every happy lunchtime is someone who notices.
Someone who sees the child on their own and gently draws them into a game.
Someone who encourages good manners and healthy choices. Someone who helps children grow in confidence - one small moment at a time.
At St Benedict’s Catholic Primary School, relationships are at the heart of everything we do. Rooted in our faith, we are a warm and welcoming school community where every child is known, valued and encouraged to flourish. Our core values of forgiveness, love, curiosity, stewardship, respect and resilience shape not only our learning, but every part of the school day - including lunchtime.
We’re looking for a caring, reliable and positive Midday Supervisory Assistant to join our team as soon as possible. This role is about much more than supervision - it is about creating a calm, inclusive and nurturing lunchtime where children feel safe, included and supported.
What the role involves:
Working as part of our amazing team, you will:
- Assist with the hot lunch service in the hall
- Ensure hygiene routines are followed, including supervising handwashing
- Promote safe, calm and positive lunchtimes
- Help children with their lunches where needed
- Encourage children to eat well and develop independence
- Clear tables, manage spillages and tidy the hall after service
On the playground, you will:
- Encourage active and imaginative play
- Support children to include one another
- Help resolve minor disagreements calmly and fairly
- Promote respectful behaviour choices in line with our school values
- Ensure children are supervised safely at all times
You will also:
- Provide minor first aid when required and record incidents appropriately
- Report more serious concerns to senior leaders
- Follow safeguarding and health and safety procedures consistently
We are looking for someone who:
- Enjoys working with children and building positive relationships
- Is calm, patient and fair
- Can model forgiveness, respect and kindness in everyday interactions
- Works well as part of a team
- Understands the importance of safeguarding
- Is willing to support and uphold the Catholic ethos of the school
- Recognises that small, daily moments can have a lasting impact on a child’s confidence and wellbeing
What you will find at St Benedict’s:
- A close-knit, welcoming school community
- Kind, enthusiastic children who respond well to care and consistency
- A supportive and collaborative staff team
- Leadership committed to helping both pupils and staff flourish
- A school where faith, relationships and high aspirations go hand in hand
At St Benedict’s, we believe that every part of the day matters. Lunchtime is a time for children to build friendships, practise resilience and learn to care for one another. You could play an important role in shaping those moments.
