What skills and experience we're looking for

We have an exciting opportunity for someone to join our Creative team as a Music and Drama Technician. The successful candidate will provide effective technical, administrative and operational support during the school day. Hours will be flexible to allow for the support of after school clubs and the occasional evening to attend performances out of school hours when required. The post holder will work 2 days a week during term time, typically from 8.30am to 4.30pm, to support extracurricular clubs. The 2 days can be full days or split into part days across the week. The role is term time only, plus 2 INSET days, and is paid on KSC £25,252 per annum (2 days pro-rata £8,785.17 / 0.35 FTE).

Duties will include setting up equipment and resources ready for practical lessons, helping students’ access equipment, resources and specialist software and assist the smooth running of performances, events and workshops. The organisation of staging, lighting and sound, ensuring appropriate storage of performing arts and music equipment, set, costumes and props, as well as maintaining and repairing items and equipment.

We would also be interested in someone keen to share their technical knowledge by running an extra-curricular music technology club to help inspire new generation of music technologists or a Theatre Production club for students interested in the work completed ‘backstage’. This could be something that builds up over time rather than something we would expect from week one.

If you have a passion for Music and Drama and feel you are able to support learning and establish good relationships with colleagues and students, we would love to hear from you. To be successful you will be able to demonstrate excellent time-management and communication skills and effectively prioritise your work and the ad hoc challenges that occur during the course of a day, and throughout the school year. An A Level or BTEC Level 3 in Music Technology, or excellent knowledge, as well as experience of lighting and sound for performances is desirable but not essential.
