Start date: September 2025
We are seeking an enthusiastic and committed person to join our Music Department on a part-time basis (term time only) to provide support and assistance to staff and students. The suitable candidate will be responsible for a wide range of tasks such as, taking responsibility for preparing and operating sound for all performances, checking and maintaining all musical and electrical equipment, and the management and maintenance of Mac suites.
Previous technical experience in this area or a similar related area are essential. We are seeking a suitable candidate to start in the role with immediate effect.
The Music Department has two teachers, a part time Music technician plus centralised administrative support. The Head of Performing Arts oversees the running and management of the faculty. The department works very much as a team, supporting each other in curricular and extra-curricular aspects of the subject. We also work very closely with the other departments in the Performing Arts faculty, namely Drama and Dance.
Results in Music are very good and significantly above the National Average. At KS4 students follow the Edexcel Music Specification and Eduqas Specification at KS5. Music students have full use of a Mac suite, recital room and 7 practice rooms to support their studies. Our high expectations, supportive environment and excellent teaching ensure good results.
The Hemel Hempstead School is a very popular and very oversubscribed school on a beautiful site in the Boxmoor Village area of the town, close to local and national rail, bus and road links to London. Our Ofsted inspection in 2016 praised the school, especially “your values of Responsibility, Respect, Relationships, Reflection and Resilience being at the heart of the atmosphere at The Hemel Hempstead School. You and your team prepare pupils to be courteous, considerate and capable young people, ready for the adult world.’
We are an expanding school, and our facilities are excellent with world-class indoor and outdoor sporting facilities, a well facilitated music, languages and science centre and plans for further improvements across the site.
Diversity: Scholars’ Education Trust is fully committed to the principles of equal opportunity, diversity and inclusion. We want to attract and retain the very best staff in all areas of the trust, ensuring our staff body reflects the diversity of our students and local community.
Further details and an application form are available from Central HR at hr@scholarseducationtrust.co.uk, or on 01727 734424. CVs will not be accepted.
