What skills and experience we're looking for

Qualifications and Experience

Essential:

  • NVQ level 2 in childcare or equivalent
  • Paediatric First Aid qualification (or willingness to train)
  • Basic food hygiene qualification
  • Child protection/safeguarding training (or training provided in post)
  • An awareness of supporting the needs of vulnerable children and those with SEN

Desirable:

  • Experience of observation/monitoring of children

Knowledge and Skills

Essential:

Knowledge of the EYFS curriculum and other national standards/codes of practice

  • Willingness to extend knowledge of best practice in early years care and education
  • Ability to communicate positively with children and carers
  • Ability to offer a positive, committed and flexible approach to working within a childcare environment
  • Awareness at all times, of health and safety requirements in the nursery. Desirable Personal Attributes Essential
  • Ability to work flexibly to the practical demands of the role
  • Enthusiastic with a willingness to work with all staff across the nursery and the academy
  • Be professional and work with integrity, empathy and patience
  • Able to manage sensitive and confidential situations
  • Self-motivated
  • Ability to interpret instructions and implement them effectively
  • Must be able to perform all duties and tasks with reasonable adjustments, where appropriate, in accordance with the provisions of the Equality Act 2010
