Summerside Primary Academy is a vibrant, inclusive and culturally diverse two-form entry primary school based in the London Borough of Barnert. The school is located in Finchley, which is a multi-cultural and diverse community. The school celebrates children’s different cultural backgrounds. Both adults and children work hard to make all welcome at the school. The school is skilled in providing for children who are new to learning English and have special educational needs.
The school has high aspirations for every child and gives all children access to learning through a creative and exciting curriculum appropriate to their age and development. The schools aim is to recognise and nurture the huge potential to grow and learn in every child.

Specialist provision for deaf children
Nestled in the heart of our highly inclusive school, the Resourced Provision has places for twelve children from Nursery to Year 6. It combines the advantage of a mainstream education with highly specialised support and intervention for deaf children. Our approach to communication and supporting children is child centred. Communication preferences for each child are discussed and reviewed with parents and staff. We are able to provide a broad range of communication support. This is appropriate for children who are oral/aural, those who use British Sign Language and for children who use a combination of both. In line with this, every child in the Deaf Provision has a Communication Profile detailing their current communication methods and best practice for working with the child.

We can offer:
• Enthusiastic, responsive children who are ready to learn.
• A strong, supportive EYFS team.
• A fantastic learning environment, including amazing outdoor provision.
• Quality professional development and staff training, including British Sign Language training.
• Excellent support and guidance from senior and middle leaders.
• A genuinely inclusive school. We have a provision for Hearing Impaired and Deaf children where children are fully integrated into mainstream classes with specialist support provided by Teachers of the Deaf and Communicators.
• A positive and caring culture.
