Nursery Practitioner job summary
First Steps Nursery, based at Cansfield High School, is seeking two caring, enthusiastic and dedicated Nursery Practitioners (Level 3) to join our team on a fixed‑term basis to cover maternity leave.
The roles:
1. Working 30 hours per week during term time and 22.5 hours a week during half term. This contract is fixed term until 31 March 2027.
2. Working 35 hours per week during term time and 22.5 hours per week during half term. This contract is fixed term until 31 October 2027
This is a fantastic opportunity to work in a nurturing early‑years environment where every child’s development and wellbeing is at the heart of what we do.
Key Responsibilities
Supervise groups of children — including those with additional needs — ensuring their safety, wellbeing and access to stimulating learning activities.
Establish and maintain an engaging, age‑appropriate play and learning environment.
Support the implementation of agreed work programmes with individuals and small groups.
Promote positive behaviour, maintain good order and ensure all activities comply with relevant health and safety legislation.
Work collaboratively with the Nursery Manager and the wider team to deliver high‑quality childcare and early education.
Essential Qualification & Experience
Level 3 qualification in Childcare or equivalent is essential.
Experience working within an early years setting.
Confidence in supporting children with a range of needs.
