Welcome to Thames Primary Academy
We are looking for a permanent Nursery Practitioner at Thames Primary Academy & Nursery who can help give our children the best possible start in their early years.
At Thames we have children firmly at the heart of all that we do. 💜
Our nursery is an integral part of our Primary Academy. We have a 25 place 2-3 room and a 40 place preschool room. Each room is led by an experienced room leader, supported by nursery practitioners and welfare staff who support over lunchtime. Our Nursery Manager is an Early Years Teacher and the majority of children feed through to our Reception classes when they start school. We have a safeguarding lead who works over the whole site, an Early Years SEND team supporting children with additional needs and a nursery administrator who manages admissions, fees, parent contact and attendance.
Our nursery is a place where children flourish and grow because they:
- Have a strong sense of belonging
- Feel safe and secure and are nurtured and supported
- Are motivated and praised for both their effort and achievement
- Can make mistakes and see them as learning opportunities
- Have access to an exciting EYFS curriculum that is tailored to meet their need
- Can learn in a setting which is state of the art and exceptionally well resourced
We are looking for someone who can:
- As part of a professional team, assist in working with children on their education and social development and provide a high quality of care.
- Effectively communicate with early years pupils to encourage social, educational and physical development and acceptable behaviour.
- Contribute to the planning of activities for the session, day or week.
- Lead in the practical learning and play activities of individuals or groups of children.
- Conduct all activities in a professional manner at all times.
What we can offer you:
- A competitive salary and pension plan
- Term time only working (13 weeks holiday each year)
- A commitment to promoting staff well being by providing certainty, fairness and consistency in the treatment of all employees
- A supportive and skilled staff team
- A broad range of internal and external CPD opportunities
- A Chromebook laptop for personal and professional use
- Access to an Employee Assistance Programme(EAP), delivered by Wisdom
- Access to Simply Health - with GP access 24/7
- This is a fantastic opportunity to join a successful primary academy within the ATC (Achievement Through Collaboration) Multi Academy Trust.
In your application please indicate in your supporting letter how your skills, experience and beliefs align with ours.

Welcome to Thames Primary Academy
Our Vision
At Thames, we take pride in developing outstanding teaching and learning by holding the highest expectations of all our pupils and knowing the children well. We challenge all children to strive for academic, creative, sporting and personal accomplishment within a broad, vibrant and enriched curriculum. Our students are given time to explore subjects and develop deep understanding. We celebrate perseverance, resilience and risk-taking, ensuring children welcome challenge and are not frightened to make mistakes.
We encourage children to take ownership of and responsibility for their learning, so they have the confidence and curiosity to ask questions, solve problems and respond to quality feedback. Children are praised for hard work, determination and having a positive attitude, in order to create an inclusive school where everyone can flourish, whatever their background.
We promote an ethos of respect and empathy, where diversity is valued and celebrated – both within the school and the wider world. Safeguarding and welfare are extremely important and pupils are taught the virtues of kindness, appreciation and what it means to be courageous. Special care is taken to educate everyone in the Thames community about the needs of others and how best to meet them. We foster open and honest communication with parents, carers and specialists and actively seek to engage with all members of our community in a positive and supportive manner.
High-quality teaching is a key priority at Thames and the relationship between staff and children underpins inspirational, supportive and effective teaching and learning. Staff are actively involved in identifying their support and training needs and this leads to careers with clear progression. We ensure that there is a wide range of quality training available and that staff are able to learn from each other and share good practice.
It is our aim for all children to leave Thames as independent learners with self-belief and abiding respect for others. We aim to instil a lifelong love for learning and a strong grounding for future success.
At Thames Primary Academy we strive to ensure our pupils enjoy the best possible education and we are continuously driving for improvement.
“Let Your Potential Soar”
At Thames we take the ‘whole child’ into account. We want our pupils to leave school with excellent subject knowledge and skills, but also to leave as caring, respectful, tolerant and enthusiastic learners, who are well-equipped to become good citizens.
We look forward to you visiting our school so that you can see us in action.
Mrs J Allison
Headteacher
