Nursery Teaching Assistant job summary

Mayplace Primary School is looking to appoint an enthusiastic and caring Nursery Teaching Assistant to join our team from the start of the new term. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is passionate about early years education and wants to make a real difference to the youngest children in our school community.

Mayplace Primary School is part of The Primary First Trust, a multi-academy trust serving schools across Bexley, Gravesham, and Medway. We offer a supportive, collaborative environment with access to trust-wide training and development opportunities.

About the role

You will work alongside the Nursery teacher to support children's learning, development, and wellbeing in a warm, stimulating Early Years environment. Day to day this includes:

  • Supporting the delivery of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) curriculum
  • Helping to plan and deliver engaging play-based activities
  • Supervising and supporting children during learning, play, and routines (including care needs such as toileting and feeding, where required)
  • Observing and recording children's progress and development
  • Building positive relationships with children, parents, and carers
  • Maintaining a safe, welcoming, and inclusive classroom environment

What we're looking for

  • A relevant childcare or education qualification (e.g. Level 2/3 in Early Years or equivalent)
  • Experience working with children in the Early Years age range
  • A genuine passion for early childhood development
  • Patience, warmth, and excellent communication skills
  • A team player who is reliable, flexible, and proactive
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
