Nursery Teaching Assistant

St Matthew’s Primary and Nursery Academy, Derriford

Contract Term: Permanent- Full Time (part time could be considered for the right candidate)

Hours: 32.5 hours per week - Monday to Friday: working patterns will include either 8am start and/or 4:30pm finish to cover full nursery opening hours

Salary: GradeSC2 NJC points 4 - 7 Actual Salary £19,743 (FTE £26,016)

Term Time only: 39 weeks per annum

Annual Leave: Taken outside of term time and paid pro-rata throughout the year (no annual leave to be taken during term time)

St Matthew's Church of England Primary and Nursery Academy aim to provide pupils of all ages with a fun and safe place to start and end their day. As a result, we are recruiting for a highly motivated and dynamic Nursery Assistant to work alongside our Early Years leader in order to ensure that our nursery children get the very best start to education possible. At St. Matthew’s we are passionate about providing our preschool children with the best start in their early years education. Mini Matt’s is a purpose-built pre-school with a beautiful open plan space and generous outdoor learning areas. We are seeking to appoint someone with a secure understanding of child development, the importance of play and a commitment to providing children with high quality learning experiences. The role will include providing quality care, fun and education under the EYFS framework, providing the children a safe and stimulating environment and ensuring all health & safety requirements are adhered to.

The successful applicant will be someone who is approachable, enthusiastic and patient who can effectively communicate with children and parents alike. You will have a calm and patient demeanour and be committed to promoting the safeguarding and welfare of all of our children. You should have a minimum of 1 year of experience in a similar setting working with children 3 - 5 years and hold a recognised childcare qualification NNEB, NVQ3 or EYPS (or willing to work towards EYPS).
