Nursery Worker job summary

Part Time 6.5 hours per week Mondays only. Term time only, fixed term until 31st August 2026

Long Sutton Primary School Nursery has its own separate building to the school which enables the Nursery to benefit from its own specific space and utilise the school buildings and grounds. With access to the school hall, growing area and wood. It is a perfect environment for nurturing and fostering relationships with children and families and a supportive environment for staff with the benefit of being part of the wider school community.

As a Nursery Worker, you will be a member of a wide team, working together to deliver the Early Years Foundation Stage framework with confidence to our children. You will be expected to contribute to the delivery of high quality care and education. You will benefit from working alongside a wider team of Early Years professionals in the form of our Foundation Stage 2 team and Senior Leadership Team. You will also benefit from support with SEND from our school SENCO, Safeguarding from our DSL and EYFS Pedagogical Development from our EYFS lead.

A commitment, passion and vision to provide high quality learning opportunities to all children and give children the best start possible to their education and further life chances is essential. The desire to nurture every child and to provide high quality childcare for all, supporting our local and school community to thrive is crucial. You will need to have excellent communication skills to enable you to engage with all stakeholders and colleagues.

You will need to have the following qualifications, training and skills:

  • A minimum of Level 2 qualification in childcare (must be full and relevant)

  • Relevant safeguarding training (this will be updated yearly)

  • Excellent knowledge of the statutory framework for the Early Years Foundation Stage

  • A passion for childcare and education

  • Excellent communication skills, both verbally and in writing

Responsibilities and Duties include

  • Building excellent relationships with parents and carers and developing strong partnerships with families

  • Contributing to planning learning opportunities and activities to support children to make progress in all areas of development

  • Meeting individual needs of children through child centred learning and play, ensuring the health, safety and well-being of our children

  • Engaging with Tapestry to communicate with families and parents and to supplement professional knowledge of the child to contribute to accurate assessments in the 7 areas of learning

  • Providing a safe, happy and stimulating Nursery environment that promotes respectful relationships that enable the voice of the child to be expressed and heard

  • Working as part of a wider Nursery team, communicating effectively with colleagues

  • Supporting children with SEND and delivering specific interventions and strategies

  • Attend staff meetings, parents evenings, open day events and wider school community events

  • Promote the nursery to new families, the community and being a champion for the setting

Candidates must have a minimum of a full and relevant Level 2 Early Years/ Childcare qualification.
