The Romsey School is seeking to appoint a dedicated and enthusiastic Occupational Therapist to support pupils with sensory and additional needs across our thriving secondary school.

This is an exciting opportunity to join our highly regarded SEND team and work closely with colleagues within our Autism Resource Base and SEN Department to help pupils develop the skills, confidence and independence they need to flourish both academically and personally.

About the Role

Working as part of our established multidisciplinary team, you will support children and young people with autism and sensory processing needs through assessment, intervention, consultation and staff training.

You will work collaboratively with teaching staff, Learning Support Assistants, families and external professionals to ensure that pupils receive appropriate support and adaptations that enable them to access learning and participate fully in school life.

Key responsibilities include:

• Delivering individual and small-group occupational therapy interventions
• Completing sensory assessments and providing recommendations
• Advising staff on effective strategies and reasonable adjustments
• Contributing to annual reviews through written reports
• Supporting families and working collaboratively with external professionals
• Delivering training for staff across the Autism Resource Base, SEN Department and wider school
• Providing regular written feedback and contributing to whole-school approaches for supporting pupils with additional needs

About You

We are looking for a compassionate, knowledgeable and proactive Occupational Therapist who is passionate about improving outcomes for children and young people with autism and sensory needs.

The successful candidate will have:

• A degree in Occupational Therapy
• Current HCPC registration
• A minimum of Module 1 Sensory Integration training
• Knowledge and understanding of the Zones of Regulation and/or Alert Programme
• At least two years' experience working with children and young people with autism
• Good GCSEs (or equivalent), including English and Mathematics
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• Strong organisational skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team
• A patient, calm and flexible approach, together with a good sense of humour
