Office Manager job summary
We are seeking a highly organised, friendly and proactive Office Manager to join our welcoming one-form entry primary school. This is a key role at the heart of our school community, ensuring the smooth and efficient running of our busy school office.
You will be the first point of contact for parents, pupils, staff and visitors, providing a professional and warm front-of-house service while supporting all aspects of administration, finance and communication.
Key Responsibilities
As our Office Manager, you will:
- Lead the day-to-day running of the school office
- Provide a professional front-of-house service, managing enquiries in person, by phone and email
- Support school administration, including attendance, data collection and reporting
- Oversee financial processes such as ordering, managing stock levels and maintaining financial records
- Manage office systems, calendars, records and compliance documentation
- Support the organisation of school events, trips and extended services
- Maintain effective communication with parents, staff and the wider community
- Line manage office staff and ensure high-quality administrative support across the school
- Contribute to the improvement of office systems and procedures
- Ensure safeguarding, confidentiality and data protection requirements are upheld at all times
What We’re Looking For
We are looking for someone who:
- Has experience in administration and working with confidential information
- Has strong organisational, communication and IT skills
- Can manage a varied workload and prioritise effectively
- Is confident using Microsoft Office and handling data
- Has experience handling financial processes or cash (desirable)
- Enjoys working in a busy, people-focused environment
- Can build positive relationships with pupils, staff and families
- Experience in a school setting is desirable but not essential.
