Operations Manager

King’s Leadership Academy Hawthornes

Salary: £39,862 - £42,839 per annum
Contract: Full-time, All Year Round, Permanent

About Us

Located in the heart of Bootle, King’s Leadership Academy Hawthornes is a thriving, values-driven school where every member of staff plays a vital role in shaping the lives of young people. We believe education should inspire every child to aim high, work hard, and become their best selves, or, as we like to say, to build better people.

As part of the Great Schools Trust, we’re proud to belong to a growing family of innovative and supportive schools committed to transforming lives through leadership and character education. At Hawthornes, you’ll join a close-knit team of passionate professionals who care deeply about their students, each other, and the community we serve. We invest in our people through personalised professional development, a collaborative culture, and a genuine focus on wellbeing, because when our staff thrive, our students do too.

About the Role

We’re looking for a dedicated, approachable, and highly organised Operations Manager to join our leadership team, following the promotion of a valued colleague.

This is a role that truly matters;

  • You’ll be the person who keeps everything running smoothly behind the scenes, ensuring that our teachers can focus on teaching and our students can focus on learning.
  • You’ll oversee the day-to-day running of our school operations, from HR and finance to facilities, health & safety, and administration, and play a crucial role as the key liaison between the Academy and the Trust’s central experts.
  • You’ll make sure communication flows seamlessly, that policies are applied consistently, and that the academy benefits fully from the specialist support within the Great Schools Trust.
  • You’ll work closely with the Principal and senior team to ensure our systems are efficient, compliant, and, above all, people-centred.

If you have a background in HR, business administration, or operations management, and you love the idea of making a tangible difference in a school community, we’d love to hear from you.

What We’re Looking For

You’ll be someone who:

  • Brings warmth, professionalism, and a strong sense of purpose.
  • Has a track record of leading teams with empathy and clarity.
  • Understands how strong HR and operational systems empower others to do their best work.
  • Is organised, proactive, and always looking for ways to improve.
  • Shares our belief that schools should be places where both staff and students thrive.

Why Join Us?

At Hawthornes, you’ll find:

  • A welcoming, values-driven team that genuinely looks after one another.
  • A trust that invests in your wellbeing and professional growth.
  • 30 days’ holiday (plus bank holidays), flexible working options, and access to the Local Government Pension Scheme.
  • A BUPA Employee Assistance Programme offering wellbeing, counselling, and family support.
  • A chance to shape the future of a growing, high-performing academy.

How to Apply

If this sounds like the kind of place where you’d thrive, we’d love to meet you.

King's Leadership Academy Hawthornes is a growing school of committed, friendly staff and a cohort of students who are polite, enthusiastic and keen to learn right across the curriculum. We are a school centred in our Aspire Values – Achievement, Aspiration, Self-awareness, Professionalism, Integrity, Respect and Endeavour. It is these values that drive our behaviours and relationships, a lingua franca that helps to bind our community together. An inspector captured the mission of the school when he observed that we were ‘building better people,’ something we are proud of.
