What skills and experience we're looking for
Do you have a passion for making Surrey schools autism friendly? Can you support mainstream colleagues to meet the needs of their learners with autism?
Freemantles School is a centre of excellence for students with Complex Social Communication Needs / Autism across the 4-19 age range. We are looking to recruit an additional Outreach Teacher within our Outreach Department, to begin as soon as possible. The role will involve visiting mainstream settings to promote autism-friendly environments and support staff to meet the needs of their young people. The role requires an in-depth knowledge of a range of strategies to support pupils with autism and experience of supporting pupils in the classroom. Strong communication skills are required, as you will be meeting with both parents and staff members to discuss their concerns and problem-solve. You would be writing short reports following each visit, so a good standard of written English is essential. Delivering training is also a part of the role and all members of the team are involved in whole school training, twilights and workshops held at Freemantles.
It is a requirement of the role that you have a full driving licence and use of a reliable car. Applicants could be working across the west of Surrey, so applicants living across the county would be welcome. Mileage will be reimbursed for extra travel to other schools at a current rate of 45p per hour.
The position is for qualified teachers and will be paid at MPS/UPS + SEN Allowance.
