What skills and experience we're looking for

Cams Hill School is looking to appoint a PA to the Headteacher. The successful candidate will have strong interpersonal skills, the ability to work at pace, self-generate, be innovative in work style and approach, be flexible, adaptable and work closely with the Headteacher. Resourcefulness is key along with the ability to prioritise, work efficiently and sensitively and by maintaining complete confidentiality at all times.

The PA will be solely responsible for administrative support for the Headteacher as well as assisting in the overall administrative management of the school. Specific roles for the Headteacher will include diary management, personnel issues, filing and hospitality. The PA will also have responsibility for a number of whole school administrative tasks such as; pupil travel to school and the development and management of the whole school calendar. Wider administration across the school could include reception cover, medical cover and collation of whole school information.

You must be resilient and committed to achieving the highest standards, have the ability and stamina to work under pressure, be able to use your own initiative, work with pupils, demonstrate great administration experience and understanding of IT systems and love working in an environment where our young people and staff are the heart of everything that we do. We would like to appoint someone who is able to learn to love this school as much as we all do.

Our successful candidate will have:

  • Previous experience of working as an PA
  • A solution focused approach to every situation
  • Understanding of safeguarding (although specific training will be provided)
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a high degree of initiative
  • Ability to plan and prioritise own workload
  • Proven track record of using own initiative to improve areas of practice and to make decisions
  • Ability to convey information clearly and accurately
  • A flexible, calm, positive, enthusiastic and professional personality even during challenging times
  • Patience, tolerance and a fabulous sense of humour
