What skills and experience we're looking for

We are looking for an ambitious and inspirational person with a passion for making a difference and enabling children to succeed, to take on the role of leading English at our ‘good’ Infant and Nursery School. The role involves a 3 day a week class-based responsibility, in a job-share with an existing member of staff but time will be given for leading English across the school.

We are an inner-city Infant and Nursery School. We pride ourselves on the fact that we place children and relationships at the centre of everything we do. The successful candidate will:

  • Be caring and compassionate
  • Supporting development of teaching and learning of English throughout the school and nursery
  • Be a strong and passionate leader, who is committed to providing the highest outcomes and standard of provision.
  • Monitor and observe teaching and learning across the school to improve and develop practise and feed back to staff
  • Analyse data to identify trends and set targets

  • Have a strong pedagogy in primary education
  • Have a love of English, teaching children to read, write and be confident orators

  • Enjoy working as part of a successful team
  • Be a confident teacher who strives for excellence
  • Want to make a difference and have impact on school improvement

The successful candidate will need:

  • A clear understanding of how young children learn
  • At least 3 years’ experience of working in Primary Education
  • The ability to work well with children, colleagues and other professionals
  • A commitment to child development and equal opportunities
  • An understanding of the law around keeping children safe (safeguarding)
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Patience and a good sense of humour
