Are you a compassionate and skilled Senior Teaching Assistant committed to supporting the needs of every learner?

We are looking for a nurturing, proactive, and creative Senior Teaching Assistant to support children, helping to deliver an inclusive, personalised learning experience that enables every pupil to thrive.
The successful candidate will work 16 hours 15 mins per week from 1st January 2026, on a fixed term contract until 31st August 2026 (with a view of being made permanent). Hours of work will be 8:45am-12pm, Monday to Friday, term-time, plus one week.

The Role Involves:

Supporting pupils across both mainstream and SEND settings, including those with autism, communication needs, sensory differences, and social-emotional needs.

Using inclusive strategies and communication tools such as visual supports, Makaton/PECS (if needed), and supportive, trauma-informed approaches.

Promoting children’s emotional, social, and personal development through engaging, creative, and varied learning opportunities.

Working closely with teachers, the SENCO, and wider pastoral teams to provide holistic, child-centred support for all learners.

Has experience supporting children with a range of needs, including SEND and mainstream learners.

Is confident using (or willing to learn) alternative communication methods and inclusive support strategies.

Is proactive, flexible, and passionate about inclusion and helping every child achieve their full potential.

Mater Christi Multi-Academy Trust is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. For this post, prior to appointment Mater Christi Trust will apply for a satisfactory enhanced Disclosure and Barring check, a Children’s Barred list check, two satisfactory references, satisfactory pre-employment health screening and for Teachers, a Prohibition Check in relation to the children’s workforce. In some settings a Declaration will be required in order to meet our obligations under the ‘Disqualification under the Childcare Act 2006’.
The successful candidate will be appointed under the terms and conditions of a CES contract which they will be required to sign.
