Are you ready for a fresh career challenge that’s both rewarding and inspiring?

Would you like to be part of a welcoming and high performing specialist school?

If the answer is yes, then read on……...

Furze Down is an outstanding special school on split sites in Winslow and Buckingham, which meets the needs of 220 pupils with communication and interaction needs aged 4 to 19. We are incredibly proud of our school and have a dedicated multi-disciplinary staff team who have the needs of our pupils at the heart of everything. We pride ourselves on building positive relationships with our pupils, their families and supporting professionals.

Our vision is “to promote our inclusive philosophy, so all thrive and flourish”. The school’s values of personal responsibility and respect have been instrumental in developing an ethos where views, beliefs and differences are appreciated and given a voice.

We offer a detailed, sequenced and carefully mapped out curriculum that reduces planning time for teachers. A bespoke assessment framework adapted by teachers reduces time spent on data. We offer a coaching model for professional development and work co-productively to develop pedagogical practice across the school. As an outstanding school, we put staff development at the heart, believing our pupils are worthy of the best-trained and best-skilled teams working with them. As part of our commitment to flexible working we prioritise teacher PPA time to allow working from home if preferred.

You will be responsible for ensuring there are high quality and effective learning opportunities for all pupils. Class sizes are small and our experienced teams offer support with a collaborative approach to teaching and delivery of the curriculum. You will work closely with our multi-disciplinary teams and lead a team of learning support assistants. Classes are organised within different pathways and you may be teaching within any one of these across the secondary age ranges.

If you relish being able to make your mark with innovative and creative practice and you are excited about making a real difference, then this role will provide you with the scope to achieve your goal.

In return, we can offer:

Staff chromebook

Competitive salary

Extensive training and professional qualification opportunities

Small class sizes with specialist LSA support

The chance to be part of an expanding, national organisation that recognises skill, effort and potential and grows its own leadership teams

Enhanced occupational sickness scheme

Flexible pension

Regular therapeutic and supportive supervision

Employee benefit service with access to wellbeing services, salary sacrifice schemes, high street vouchers, money off eating-out and takeaway
