What the school offers its staff

Part Time KS2 Teacher – Where every small step is a big victory

At Harbour School Dorset, we believe in seeing the child before the challenge. We know that progress isn’t always linear, and that sometimes, the smallest breakthroughs mean the most. That’s why we’re looking for a KS2 Class Teacher with a big heart, a creative mind, and a passion for helping students with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) and Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs thrive.

This isn’t just another teaching job, it’s an opportunity to change lives, build confidence, and celebrate every success (even if that success is just making it through the day with a smile!). Forget one-size-fits-all teaching, we celebrate small steps, big breakthroughs, and everything in between. If you believe in the power of patience, encouragement, and are ready to make learning exciting, meaningful, and accessible for students who think outside the box, we’d love to hear from you!

We’re on the final stage of our journey as we hit 150 students in September 2025 and that’s where this new Class Teacher role comes in. You’ll be working with a small group of 8 KS2 year 6 or 7 students.

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Creating a safe, structured, and inspiring learning environment tailored to individual needs.
  • Building strong, trusting relationships with students who need an extra dose of understanding.
  • Delivering an adaptive and engaging curriculum that builds confidence, independence, and achievement.
  • Using imagination, patience, and a touch of humour to make learning fun and accessible.
  • Using creative teaching strategies to support both academic and emotional development.
  • Working as part of an amazing, supportive team (seriously, we’re great!).
  • Helping students build confidence, resilience, and a love of learning.
  • Encouraging students to celebrate their strengths and develop essential life skills.
  • Celebrating every success no matter how small, from mastering a tricky concept to simply believing in themselves, they all matter

  • Why Join Us?
    • Small class sizes with excellent support staff to help you make a real impact and allow more time for meaningful teaching.
    • Ongoing CPD and training to help you grow, because we believe in learning too!
    • You will be part of an inclusive and collaborative team that, no matter what the challenge may be, are ready to face it head on and are committed to seeing it through.
    • A school that celebrates progress, not just results.
    • A rewarding role where no two days are the same and every day makes a difference!
    • The opportunity to develop your career in a School and Delta Education Trust, a growing Trust. Our ethos is encompassed in our vision“ Learning together in pursuit of happiness”. This means we really care whether students love or hate their learning, so we work hard to create a space where students learn together to become knowledgeable, self-aware, independent and happy people who make a positive difference, wherever life takes them.

Visits to the school are welcomed, please contact Danielle (Receptionist and Administrator) on 01929 508286 to arrange an appointment.

    Closing date: 13th March 2025

    Interview date: 20th March 2025
