What skills and experience we're looking for

Are you a passionate and dedicated SEN Teacher looking to make a real impact in a supportive mainstream primary school? We are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Special Educational Needs (SEN) Teacher to join our team to teach a small group of children with SEND (8-10 pupils).

You will teach a group of high needs children in a small class within our mainstream school, alongside highly skilled SEN Teaching Assistants. You will liaise closely with the SENDCO and Headteacher to ensure that pupils with additional needs receive tailored support and guidance. You will be responsible for planning, delivering, and assessing engaging lessons alongside your job share teacher that meets the individual needs of each child, helping them to reach their full potential. You will also have the opportunity to share your expertise to support and advise the wider school community to ensure the needs of the children in the classes across the school are being met.

St Stephens Community Primary School is in Saltash, ‘The Gateway to Cornwall’. We are a non-religious school with a clear set of values: creativity, aspiration, enjoyment, collaboration, trust and kindness. We are in a fantastic location with beautiful beaches, moorland, theatre, shopping, history and the arts on our doorstep as well as the school itself having amazing grounds, including a forest school, a covered MUGA, several play areas and a huge school field.

At present we have 361 pupils on roll and an oversubscribed teacher-led school nursery with another 60 children. Our children have a range of needs with approximately 25% SEND. For our highest needs learners in FS and KS1 we are developing a small SEN support class for up to 10 pupils.
