What skills and experience we're looking for

Do you want to make a real difference every day? Are you looking for a role where your work directly supports the safety and wellbeing of young people?

At De Aston School, we are seeking a dedicated and organised part-time Senior Support Officer to join our safeguarding team. This is a vital role at the heart of the school, ensuring that safeguarding concerns are managed effectively, sensitively, and in a timely manner.

Working closely with the Assistant Headteacher (Safeguarding) and pastoral colleagues, you will contribute to a culture of vigilance, early intervention, and strong support for vulnerable students. You will play a key role in ensuring that every student feels safe, supported, and ready to learn.

You will be joining a welcoming and committed team in a school that values staff wellbeing, collaboration, and professional development. This is more than just a job — it’s an opportunity to make a meaningful impact every day.

We are looking for someone who is:

  • Passionate about safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young people
  • Experienced in working with young people and/or families, ideally in a school or safeguarding environment
  • Calm, resilient, and confident in managing sensitive and challenging situations
  • Highly organised, with excellent attention to detail and the ability to manage a busy and varied workload
  • A strong communicator, able to build positive relationships with students, parents/carers, colleagues, and external agencies
  • Skilled in maintaining accurate, confidential records and handling sensitive information professionally
  • Confident in using ICT systems and databases (such as CPOMS or similar)
  • Proactive and analytical, with the ability to identify patterns and respond effectively
  • Able to work both collaboratively as part of a team and independently when required
  • Fully committed to safeguarding, equality, and student wellbeing

Essential requirements:

  • GCSE English and Maths (Grade 4/C or above)
  • Strong ICT skills and experience of using databases
  • Ability to maintain accurate and confidential records

What the school offers its staff

  • A welcoming, supportive, and highly committed team
  • A strong culture of collaboration, where staff feel valued and supported
  • Excellent CPD and professional development opportunities
  • A clear focus on staff wellbeing and work-life balance
  • A school with a strong community ethos and inclusive values
  • The opportunity to play a vital role in safeguarding and supporting young people
  • A rewarding role where you can make a meaningful difference every day

At De Aston School, you won’t just be doing a job — you’ll be helping to keep children safe and supporting them to thrive.
