Hair and Beauty is a new course that Year 9 students have opted for and there will be one class studying the subject next year. Initially, the role will require only a few hours per week (so could suit someone who is also teaching at another centre), but the hours will grow as the course becomes available to more year groups. You would be required to be able to teach and assess the City and Guilds Level 2 qualification in Hair and Beauty Studies, incorporating the following modules:
Exploring the world of Hair and Beauty
The science of Hair and Beauty
Design in the Hair and Beauty sector
The City & Guilds Level 2 Technical Award in Hair and Beauty Studies provides learners with exciting opportunities to develop both their applied knowledge and theoretical understanding, alongside their development of key practical and technical skills within the hair and beauty sector.
The qualification develops the following knowledge, understanding and skills:
Specific services carried out within the hair and beauty sectors, roles and responsibilities and typical working patterns
Evolution of hair and beauty from use in ancient times to the mid 90s
How technological advancements, changes to the economy, and social factors have influenced the sector
Chemistry of cosmetics and biology related to hair and beauty
Uses of design and images for business use
Technical hair styling, make-up and manicure skills
Staff delivering this qualification must be able to demonstrate that they meet the following requirements:
Be technically competent in the areas in which they are delivering
Be able to deliver across the breadth and depth of the content of the qualification being taught
