Pastoral Co-ordinator job summary

Are you passionate about supporting young people to feel safe, succeed and engage positively with school? We are looking for a Pastoral Co-ordinator to join Lift New Rickstones and provide high-quality pastoral support across an assigned year group.

About the role

As a Pastoral Co-ordinator, you will support the welfare of students within your assigned year group, working with the Senior Leadership Team and Head of Year to promote positive behaviour, strong attendance and a caring, disciplined school culture. You will identify barriers affecting students and put appropriate support and intervention plans in place.

You will work closely with students, families, teachers, pastoral colleagues and external agencies, support safeguarding cases, monitor behaviour and attendance information and use data to identify trends and improve outcomes. You will also help manage and de-escalate incidents and ensure pastoral records are accurate and up to date.

Key responsibilities

• Provide pastoral support to promote student wellbeing, inclusion and engagement
• Monitor and support behaviour and attendance, including intervention and reintegration plans
• Identify and support students at risk, including those with SEND, EHCPs or child protection plans
• Maintain accurate pastoral, behaviour and safeguarding information on school systems
• Work closely with families, staff and external agencies to secure the best outcomes for students
• Analyse pastoral and behaviour data, identify trends and contribute to reports and improvement plans

What we're looking for

• GCSE Maths and English at Grade 4 or equivalent
• Experience motivating young people and promoting high expectations
• Experience using data to analyse performance, track progress and inform decisions
• Strong knowledge of safeguarding, child protection and effective behaviour support
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with students, staff, families and agencies
• A calm, non-judgemental approach with the ability to de-escalate challenging situations and work under pressure
• A patient, empathetic and tenacious approach, with a strong commitment to safeguarding, equality and inclusion

Lift New Rickstones is graded 'Good' (November 2023) and has a state of the art building offering fantastic facilities for both students and staff. Over the last 8 years the school has seen a huge increase in student numbers, with the number of students on roll more than doubling. The school is a popular choice in the local area, is oversubscribed, and has added another new building to meet this demand.

This is a full-time role, working 37 hours per week, term time plus inset days, with a salary of SCP 6-11.
