Salary: Grade 4 £33,366 - £40,476 per annum (Pro Rata: £29,289 - £35,541)
Contract: Full-time (36.5 hours/week), Term-time only
Start Date: Easter 2025

Plantsbrook School is seeking a Pastoral Lead for Alternative and Additional Provision to provide high-quality pastoral care and guidance to students in our Alternative Provision Unit. You will play a vital role in supporting behaviour management, improving attendance, and helping students overcome barriers to learning.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide pastoral care and support to students, both in school and through external interventions.
  • Work closely with families, staff, and external agencies to address students' behavioural, emotional, and social needs.
  • Lead on attendance improvement strategies and behaviour management within the Alternative Provision.
  • Support students transitioning into and out of the provision, ensuring continuity of care and guidance.
  • Act as a role model, promoting a positive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Investigate incidents, implement restorative practices, and monitor student well-being.
  • Develop and oversee Student Support Plans/Early Help Plans tailored to individual needs.
  • Liaise with external organisations to enhance career guidance and post-16 transition support.
  • Undertake daily supervision duties and contribute to the school’s detention and behaviour management systems.
  • Potential to train as a First Aider, Mental Health Lead, or Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead (DDSL).

What We’re Looking For:

  • Experience working with young people in pastoral support, behaviour management, or a similar role.
  • Strong knowledge of barriers to learning, mental health, and behaviour strategies.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work with families, staff, and external agencies.
  • A proactive and empathetic approach to student well-being and development.
  • The ability to remain calm, professional, and solution-focused in challenging situations.
