Springfield is an inclusive and high performing 11-16 school, in which ‘leaders strive to ensure that every pupil feels valued’. Ofsted judged the school to be ‘good’, across the board in April 2025.

We are seeking an experienced, friendly and well-organised individual with a passion for working with young people. The ideal candidate will be highly organised, have strong communication skills and be able to provide effective pastoral care for students. The successful candidate will benefit from wide ranging CPD opportunities and the supervision of a Designated Safeguarding Lead.

For an informal discussion regarding the post, please telephone Mr Brimacombe (Deputy Headteacher) at the school.

Springfield School and The De Curci Trust are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people, and expect all staff and volunteers to uphold this commitment. As part of our safer recruitment practices, an Enhanced DBS Disclosure and other background checks - including overseas checks, online searches, and verification of teachers’ status via the Department for Education’s website - will be carried out prior to any offer of employment.

Completed application forms will be passed to the recruitment panel for shortlisting and will be reviewed against the person specification detailed in the advert. Applications will be assessed upon receipt and we reserve the right to interview and appoint prior to the closing date. An early application is therefore strongly advised.

Further information about the job

The candidate will be required to undergo a full enhanced DBS check and must be eligible to work in the UK.

We are a large and inclusive school with over 1100 students on roll, situated in the suburb of Drayton, to the north of the city of Portsmouth, nestled under the slopes of Portsdown Hill.

The school has an established history of excellent practice and high achievement. Ofsted judged the school to be 'good' in October 2019 and commented that 'leaders are determined to provide a high-quality education for all pupils regardless of their ability or circumstances'.

We are a strong, aspirational community founded on positive and respectful relationships;
every individual is known and supported in their learning and personal development. We
aim to inspire our students with a love of learning, a desire to innovate and a sense of
discovery and optimism for their twenty-first century world.

Our curriculum is rich and broad and our commitment to promoting student leadership
and co-construction means that students are actively engaged in developing the school and
shaping their own learning. Our teachers recognise individual learning styles, as well as the
need to encourage independent and collaborative learning.
