Who we’re looking for

We’re looking for a talented individual to help foster a caring and supportive learning environment for our young people. Your experience of pastoral care will place our learners’ welfare at the heart of the school.

The successful candidate will be a committed team player with excellent organisational and technical skills. You will have the ability to problem solve and provide excellent customer service to our community.

You will have:

• Degree or Diploma in Counselling /Social Care or Careers.
• Experience of working with young people and families in a Secondary School setting.
• Experience of providing counselling/pastoral support or careers guidance within a Secondary School setting.
• The ability to maintain positive relationships with students and other adults.
• The ability to work effectively and sensitively with a range of groups and individuals.

Star Salford Academy is a 5-form entry mixed secondary school for 11 to 16 year-olds, which was opened by Star Academies in September 2023. Like all Star schools, Star Salford Academy has a leadership specialism.

In July 2026, the school had its first Ofsted inspection, securing ‘Strong standard’ in four areas and ‘Expected standard’ in one area, reflecting the strong foundations established since the school opened. We were graded ‘Needs attention’ in one area (specifically attendance), and we are continuing to implement a wide range of strategies with parents, carers and families to improve this.

We provide a knowledge-based academic curriculum alongside a rich and diverse leadership programme that grows character and inspires charitable and social action. Our pursuit of educational excellence is based upon our fundamental belief that every pupil has the capacity to become a successful and inspirational leader.

The candidate will be required to undergo a full enhanced DBS check and must be eligible to work in the UK.
