Pastoral Support Assistant job summary
Merstham Park School is seeking a dedicated Pastoral Support Assistant to join our vibrant pastoral team. This permanent, term-time-only role (36 hours per week) involves providing efficient administrative support, maintaining student records, and liaising with families and external partners. You’ll play a key part in supporting student welfare, wellbeing, and achievement in our inclusive school community - helping with reintegration meetings, participating in learning walks, and ensuring pastoral needs are met with care and professionalism.

Your opportunity
- Support student wellbeing, behaviour, and attendance
- Liaise with families and external partners to ensure student needs are met
- Manage and maintain student records using Bromcom, ClassCharts, and other systems
- Assist with interventions, reintegration, and incident investigations
- Help promote a positive school culture and student responsibility
- Use Google Drive tools to produce reports and communications
- Contribute to the smooth running of pastoral operations and student support
What we're looking for:
- Experience working in a busy office environment
- Strong ICT skills – confident using Microsoft Excel and Word
- Effective and clear communication skills
- Proven ability to work well in a team
- Good organisational and administration skills
- Able to meet deadlines, use initiative, and keep line manager informed
- Ability to manage conflicting priorities
- Able to build appropriate relationships with students in line with safeguarding policies
- Familiarity with Bromcom, ParentPay, ClassCharts, PowerPoint, and other school systems (desirable)
