Pastoral Support Officer job summary

Are you looking to work in a high performing and supportive organisation where you can make a genuine difference?

We are looking to recruit a Pastoral Support Officer to join our hardworking and collaborative team, Rosebery Respite, contributing to the pastoral care of our students.

If you have a passion for working with young people, particularly those who face significant barriers at school, and are looking to flourish at work and be professionally fulfilled, we would love to hear from you.

Your opportunity

As a key member of the Rosebery Respite team and working closely with Heads of Year and Deputy Heads of Year, the Pastoral Support Officer will provide high-quality and timely support to students who regularly demonstrate challenging behaviour negatively affecting their ability to learn and/or whose low attendance affects their progress at school. The successful candidate will maintain a presence in lessons and Rosebery Respite, supporting staff experiencing challenging behaviour and provide targeted support for students who are persistently absent. The Pastoral Support Officer will also engage regularly with parents, informing them of the progress of their child, undertake home visits, and run workshops to promote positive behaviour strategies at home.

What we are looking for

  • Someone with experience of working with young people, ideally in a school setting
  • An empathetic communicator who is able to build appropriate relationships with young people and their families
  • An organised individual who is willing to take initiative and work autonomously
  • Commitment to the aims and ethos of the school
  • Experience in working with external agencies which provide support to vulnerable young people and families
  • A team player who genuinely believes every child can succeed
