Are you passionate about helping students overcome challenges and set the foundation for lifelong success? Do you believe in the power of individualised support, particularly for students who struggle in an educational setting? Are you ready to play a key role in supporting students through their daily difficulties, ensuring they feel valued and understood?

If you’re ready to make a difference, we would love to hear from you!

We are seeking an enthusiastic, experienced, and compassionate Pastoral Support Worker to join our supportive school environment. In this role, you’ll be at the heart of helping students who face challenges, building strong relationships and creating an environment where they can thrive. If you're motivated, creative, and ready to support our students, this could be the perfect opportunity for you.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide tailored advice and structured interventions to empower students to make positive choices regarding their behaviour, attendance, and social interactions (with full support for structuring and resourcing these interventions).
  • Collaborate with teaching staff and colleagues to share effective strategies for supporting students.
  • Build strong connections with parents, staff, and external agencies to ensure holistic support for every student.
  • Strengthen the school-family partnership to enhance educational opportunities and foster a positive attitude toward learning.
  • Act as a dedicated keyworker for assigned students, tracking their progress, attending meetings, and reporting concerns to the SENCo and Head of Year.
  • Uphold confidentiality and adhere to safeguarding protocols to ensure the safety and well-being of all students.

We're Looking for Someone Who:

  • Works seamlessly as part of a team and thrives in a collaborative environment.
  • Remains positive, enthusiastic, and calm even in challenging situations.
  • Demonstrates empathy and understanding of the diverse needs of students.
  • Approaches personal development and training with a growth mindset.
  • Has excellent communication skills, engaging effectively with students and colleagues alike.
  • Brings experience of working with children and young people in a supportive capacity.
  • Has a strong understanding of child protection and safeguarding procedures.

It would be even better if you have:

  • ELSA (Emotional Literacy Support Assistant) qualification.
  • Previous experience working in a secondary school setting.
  • Experience supporting children/young people with special educational needs.

Additional Opportunity: Mental Health Lead Role

In addition to the Pastoral Support Worker position, we are offering the opportunity to apply for the Mental Health Lead role on a one-year, fixed-term basis. As Mental Health Lead, you will champion the school’s approach to mental well-being, integrating mental health support across all aspects of school life. This includes leading initiatives such as Mental Health Awareness Week, overseeing a team of 6th Form Mental Health Ambassadors, and ensuring the effectiveness of the Mental Health First Aid team.

If you have a passion for supporting mental health and well-being and want to take on a leadership role in this area, this could be your next challenge!
