We are seeking a motivated and experienced Attendance Co-ordination Leader with a proven track record of driving improvement of student attendance levels. This is a vital role in supporting our strategic objective priority to raise expectations around attendance and ensure that every student is safe, in school, and learning. This is a fantastic opportunity to be part of a committed and forward-thinking team in a school that recognises the essential role of attendance in educational success.

If you have experience of an attendance related role within a school setting, or come from a behaviour or student social work background, where you have experience with engaging with pupils and their families, we would love to receive an application from you.

We would be delighted to welcome you on a tour of the academy and answer any questions that you may have, prior to applying.

Please note that this is a Term Time Only + 2 weeks (41 weeks per annum) contract, working 37 hours per week.

The successful candidate will be resilient, highly committed to the role and passionate about providing effective support to our students and their families. You will champion the attendance, safeguarding and overall wellbeing of our students and be motivated by the prospect of making a difference to their lives.

We are looking for a successful candidate who:

  • Has experience improving attendance and engaging hard-to-reach families.
  • Demonstrates a strong understanding of safeguarding practices.
  • Brings empathy, resilience, and high expectations for all students.
  • Has excellent communication and inter-agency working skills, being able to work with a range of internal and external services to ensure integrated, holistic responses to pupil needs.
  • Can lead on the development and implementation of systems and strategies to improve pupil attendance and engagement.
  • Can prepare reports for the Leadership Team (ALT).
  • Is passionate about making education accessible for every child.
  • Is able to lead and monitor strategies and outcomes from multi-agency meetings and re-integration programmes.

You will work directly with staff, students and their families to:

  • Promote the value of education and the importance of regular attendance.
  • Develop programmes to raise pupil aspirations and promote future success.
  • Monitor attendance data and trends, coordinating interventions and supporting pupils and families to address barriers to regular attendance.
  • Safeguard students by ensuring the development and monitoring of robust school safeguarding policies and procedures, as well as systems and academy policies surrounding attendance, behaviour and guidance.
  • Support students to re-engage with learning, even when faced with complex personal challenges.
  • Line manage a team of Family Engagement Workers, providing leadership and oversight.
  • Collaborate with school staff and external agencies to develop and implement effective attendance strategies.

Please note that a full driving licence and access to a vehicle is a requirement of this role.
