Pastoral Support Worker job summary

Pastoral Support Worker - Grade 7 (pay point 11-14)

Required to start on Monday 6th January 2025 or as soon as possible thereafter

35 hours per week (Monday-Friday 8:30am-4:00pm)

Term time only plus five professional development days

We are looking for a special person to become our Pastoral Support Worker. This wide-ranging role will require you to work closely with pupils, families, school staff and other professionals.

You will need to be patient, kind and resilient as well as being a quick thinker and a creative problem solver.

The successful candidate will be able to:

  • understand and appreciate why some children experience difficulties and respond to these
  • build positive relationships with children and families
  • manage a complex caseload
  • act with integrity and maintain confidentiality
  • act as a Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead (training will be provided)

As part of your role, you will be expected to deal with and respond to the following:

  • complex behaviour
  • attendance concerns
  • family issues including separation and bereavement
  • safeguarding concerns
  • the wellbeing and mental health of pupils and families

We know that it is not possible to have all the answers or solve all the problems but we are looking for a colleague who will work as part of our experienced and dedicated team to provide the best possible support for all of our pupils and families. Our aim is to remove as many barriers as we can to allow pupils the optimum chance of academic and personal success.

To be successful in this role:

You will need a calm and caring nature and be able to support our pupils with all aspects of school from classroom learning to social interaction.

You will need to be flexible and adaptable, work well in team situations but also have the capacity to work independently on your own initiative.

Previous experience in this role is not essential.
