Pastoral Year Leader job summary

Join Our Team as a Pastoral Year Leader at Astrea Academy Woodfields!

Are you ready to lead with compassion, consistency, and high expectations? Astrea Academy Woodfields is seeking a dedicated Pastoral Year Leader on a term time basis to champion the wellbeing, behaviour, and progress of our scholars in Key Stage 3/4.

About the Role:

As Pastoral Year Leader, you’ll be the driving force behind a year group’s success—ensuring impeccable behaviour, strong attendance, and a culture of achievement. You’ll work closely with senior leaders, teachers, and support staff to remove barriers and inspire every student to reach their full potential.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead with Purpose: Be the visible, values-driven role model for your year group.
Champion Behaviour & Attendance: Monitor, intervene, and celebrate success.
Collaborate for Impact: Work with DSL, SENDCo, and teaching teams to support vulnerable students.
Engage Families: Build strong relationships with parents to secure positive outcomes.
Celebrate Achievement: Drive the rewards system and promote enrichment opportunities.
Mentor & Motivate: Support underachieving students and lead tutor teams with clarity and consistency.

What We're Looking For:

Experienced Pastoral Leader: Proven experience working with KS3/4 students in a pastoral capacity.
Values-Driven: Aligned with Astrea’s mission and committed to inclusion and equity.
Resilient & Relational: Calm, confident, and emotionally mature with strong relationship-building skills.
Professional & Organised: Able to lead events, track data, and communicate effectively across stakeholders.

What We Offer:

Supportive Leadership: Work alongside a visible and committed senior team.
Professional Development: Ongoing CPD and opportunities for career progression.
Inclusive Culture: A values-led environment where every child is known and supported.
Disruption-Free Learning: A warm/strict behaviour system that empowers staff and students.
Centralised Systems: Including detentions, tutor curriculum, and rewards.
